Art(ist) Statement

Creativity began as a healing tool for me, and remains as such. The reality I was born into left me in constant thirst for something I could not define. Nothing in the external could satisfy the consistent restlessness that occupied my emotions and took over my mind. Through creative expression, art, I found an outlet allowing me to viscerally interact with this unknowing thirst. The journey led me through mania, depression, financial loss, self inflicted isolation, failed relationship patterning, an inability to define my core/home which led to a deconstruction of personal identity and acknowledgment of self.

I went on a creative journey and found my self in the process. It took nearly 20 years, and every second of it was worth it. I still cannot believe I am choosing to convey that for there have been many a day/evening where I cursed it. Art, to me, is a tool to unbiasedly communicate with an internal state of emotions, thoughts, spiritual journey of the soul. I believe there are things in this world that are beyond our mental comprehension. I have discovered mind blowing coincidences/synchronicities that have made me question every thing I was ever taught.

I prefer this way of being. It is a choice.

Art has opened up a world of possibility, potential and limitless imagination that has led me to find passion, magic and joy.

Art is Love. Self Love. Love of Life. Love of Play. Love of Discovery. Love of Adventure. Pure love that has redefined my entire life.

Art(ist) Bio

Kelly Lynn began as a self-taught abstract artist specializing in oil pastels. While the beauty of Michigan, her home state, inspires and captures her heart, it wasn’t until moving to California and discovering oil pastels through an acting class activity in 2004 that she found the path that brings you and I together here.

Her original canvas artwork emphasizes texture and color by blending planes of oil pastels with solely her hands. Nature’s influence can be seen throughout her works with her signature vortexes, eliciting the ebb and flow of emotional currents one feels when surrounded by nature. A superb colorist, Kelly’s pieces manage to soothe and excite simultaneously.

Kelly Lynn continues to evolve her technique, experimenting with new mediums and giving back to communities with Art Therapy workshops+courses. She has shown many times for Los Angeles Downtown Artwalk, Art Basel Miami, Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, HUD Gallery, the Armory NYC, and has enjoyed Live Painting performances in the USA & Canada.

Beginning in the early days of Covid (2020), she stretched out of her normal depths of creating on canvas and started experimenting to great extent in digital mediums. Language constructs, word formation and consequence, unfiltered vlog/stream of consciousness pops - you know, all the things that happen to each of us but we censor, contain and refrain from expressing. Fear - it’s a Beast.

It has been a turbulent journey. One she didn’t fully understand, and only now dares to express a semblance of cohesion.
